My grandest adventure yet since my surgery will be my trip to NYC tomorrow. Not that I’ve decided to just take off and do some sightseeing, no, this trip is to yet another doctor. Sloan-Kettering is my destination but since we are all (Christina, Barbara, and I) making the long journey down, no sense squandering our good fortunes and ignoring what New York has to offer.
Last time we were in New York was for Christina’s birthday a little over a month ago for an overnight stay downtown. While there, we went to our favorite restaurant (for only the second time) Turks and Frogs. So now, for only the third time, we will eat there before my appointment for our first lunch there. It’s a very romantic spot for us since we honeymooned in Greece and Turkey (Turkey being our favorite) and we absolutely adore the food and we’ve never had Turkish food prepared better than at Turks and Frogs. It might not be a good idea before seeing the doctor but I finish my dilaudid tonight which means I can drink alcohol again. It’s alright, it’ll be with food. I haven’t had a drink in about a month so I could be high as a kite even on just one. We’ll see.
My oncologist actually recommends drinking in general and for chemo in particular. For the chemo, it relaxes the heart (and the patient). In general, all those wine and heart disease studies actually converted into clinical practice.
I’m afraid this will all be a stretch for me physically. We’ll have to travel by cab as the subway or walking would be too much for me right now. And we may not be able to fit anything else on our itinerary except lunch and my appointment, but I should think of a backup attraction just in case I’m feeling up to it.
TECHNICAL NOTE: I’m working on improving how this site looks and functions overall but am paying particular attention to my IE6 audience. If anyone has any constructive criticism for me let me know. I’ll be improving this feedback feature too!
