I’ve been incredibly active today with internet technology which I will mostly bore my colleagues in College Relations with but there is one finding everyone should appreciate. After resurrecting this blog, it’s been a lot of fun finding ways to have it function as I believe it should and to trick it out. Of course this is an ongoing process that I’ll never have enough time for (sigh). Oh, that thing you’d all be interested in. Right.
Google analytics. Google offers this free for those who want statistics on their site traffic. Well that’s pretty bland sounding. I graduated with a B.A. in statistics so I know what you’re talking about. But there’s at least one part that I found to be pretty cool. The Map Overlay feature shows where geographically in the world viewers of your site came from. So I don’t know who visited my site but I do know where they came from. See this map of New York State where I highlighted Poughkeepsie and you can see the surrounding area has some visits too and a lot from New York and some from Albany.

In this one, though I pretty well know what group of people this is.
Hi Mom, Ev, and Bob!

Another techie thing to do was adding the Meebo IM widget and the Stand Up To Cancer widget. More to come …
Minor accomplishment of the week: starting to lay on my sides instead of always on my back. It finally doesn’t hurt to do that. What really hurt the other night was sneezing. It felt as though my incision had been ripped open. In these cases, and any time there is pressure from inside my abdomen like if I cough or strain, I am supposed to use that pillow I forget the name of it but it’s a small pillow that you need to press into your belly to counteract the pressure. I need to keep that close at hand in case I sneeze or cough again suddenly.
Oh, and I started wearing underwear today, ALRIGHT! You’re supposed to wear loose clothes to keep pressure off the incision which the waist band goes over, but that part has healed relatively well by now. I also wore my Stupid Cancer t-shirt from imtooyoungforthis.org.

Ray, I think the name of the pillow is “belly buddy.”
